How we source and filter

Dirty Paintbrushes aggregates articles from approximately 30 curated RSS feeds across five editorial tiers: Investigative & Research, Art Industry, News & Investigations, Legal & Regulatory, and Google Alerts. The feed refreshes daily. Each article is filtered through a relevance classifier to identify coverage of financial crime in the art market: fraud, money laundering, sanctions evasion, terrorist financing, antiquities trafficking, and regulatory enforcement. Articles are then manually reviewed before publication. This approach prioritises precision over volume: we reject a high proportion of submissions to maintain editorial quality and avoid signal loss in noise.
